We Thank You for the love & appreciation that has been given to us.
"Welcome to the Judi Dench Playhouse, and thank you for supporting this production - the first AppEaling Theatre Company.
Ayub Khan-Din is probably best known for the film adaptation of his play East is East, which won Best Film at the British Comedy Awards. The less well known Rafta, Rafta…is based on the play All in Good Time by Bill Naughton, the creator of Alfie. It premiered at the National Theatre in 2007, where it starred Bollywood actor Harish Patel as Eeshwar and Meera Syal as his long-suffering wife Lopa.
I was introduced to Rafta, Rasta… by Lloyd, whose play High Tea I directed at The Questors in I loved it so much that i set up AppEaling theatre Company to mount a production. Mindful of the pennies, I went on the hunt for secondhand copies of the script. One of the first i found had been signed by five of the members of the originals National Theatre cast - this felt like a good omen. A research trip to a local Hindu temple shortly afterwards led to a chance meeting with Chandravadan (CJ) Engineer, guru at “Sangeet Vidhya Progression” School of Hindustani Music, Southhall. Another good omen. Since then he and his immensely talented young pupils, Nirmal Nawaz and Master Mayur, have helped the cast with the music, and have been a great inspiration to us.
Expressions of interest in this production - from actor, creatives and crew - came pouring in from my many friends at The Questors and further afield, and I am grateful to everyone who has worked so hard over the past couple of months to make it happen. I am also grateful to the cast for working so hard, being a real pleasure to work with, and for being so good natured and flexible as to rehearse in no fewer than five different venues, including St Stephen’s Church Centre (inside and outside), The Orchard Cafe in West Ealing, The Questors, and the homes of Priya Suri and Nusarat Shiraz (thank you for hospitality, ladies)!
We’ve had so much fun putting the show together, and we hope you enjoy it."

“A big thank you to each and everyone who performed at our Tolworth Function last Saturday. you kept the audience mesmerised, contented and thrilled every minute was bliss.
The voice of amazing stars will not be forgotten, for a very long time here at Tolworth. i also wish to thank Guruji for the wonderful organisation and the way he has harnessed and educated the children to present such a high quality performance. As he said it’s the foundation of learning through the Classical music that puts them in good stead for the future.
From all our members Sukhriya..Khhob Khhob Abhar."
